Larry – Disc Jockey / Emcee /Featured Performer:

Larry is the owner and operator of A & A Disc Jockey Service and has been a successful master of ceremonies and disc jockey in the wedding industry for over 35 years, and his background in entertainment precedes that, going back to his playing in a rock / pop band in high school. As the company owner he has been a member of the American Disc Jockey Association since 1982 and has participated in various seminars and workshops to constantly improve his skills. As an active and charter member of the Triad Bridal Association he has served three terms on the executive committee and through that association maintains a constant and cooperative relationship with many of the top wedding professionals in the area.
He maintains an active post on the board or directors of the local chapter of the American Disc Jockey Association and attends monthly meetings of the North Carolina Chapter. He has completed two workshops through the nationally recognized “Marbecca Method” in advanced master of ceremonies techniques as well as instruction in performing the popular “Love Story Reception.”  Larry’s eclectic musical tastes and his clear understanding of the ceremonial and emotional importance of the duties he performs for each of his clients makes him one of the most sought after wedding entertainment specialists in the southeast. His performance fee includes at least one personal consultation (more may be necessary if you are doing a “Love Story”). As with any of our packages, you still receive preplanning assistance from our own professional wedding consultant. Once the schedule of activities for your event has been finalized and approved by you, copies will be shared with all of your other vendors to help keep everyone on the same page.  Larry generally works with one or more assistants, depending upon the size and logistics of the event and assumes full responsibility for coordinating all of your reception activities with your photographer, venue, catering staff, etc; as well as the bride and groom and their families to assure a worry free and emotionally satisfying experience. He will make certain that your guests not only have a fun and joyous celebration, but that they also leave the event with a greater understanding of the context in which it was held. He has long held the view that a wedding reception is very much like a play. Each person has their own part to play, but as the master of ceremonies/director he is responsible for the staging and flow of events. He wants to be sure that the guests leave feeling as though they have all shared in a unique and memorable entertainment experience.

Note: Larry generally limits his performances to about 12 -15 weddings per year, so make sure to ask about availability for your date.

Tony – Disc Jockey / Master of Ceremonies / Featured Performer:

Tony has been  performing as a master of ceremonies and disc jockey at a wide variety of venues and events for over 15 years, covering everything from roller skating rinks (he actually referees speed skating competitions), corporate events and formal weddings. He came to work at A & A Disc Jockey Service in February of 2001 and rapidly became one of our top performers. In the corporate world (where he still has his “day job”) he has had extensive training in public speaking as well as the production and performing of formal presentations. The fact that he diligently stays up to date on all of the newest releases makes him as comfortable doing a Super Sweet 16 Party as he is at the most formal of wedding receptions. Tony has received the company’s “Disc Jockey of the Year” award twice in the past 5 years and is easily one of the most versatile performers on the  A & A staff. Being happily married with a young son of his own, Tony has a special insight into the significance of the wedding celebration and strives to make each event a special and memorable celebration for his clients. Tony generally works alone or with one assistant, depending upon the size and logistics of the event and assumes full responsibility for coordinating all of your reception activities with your photographer, venue, catering staff, etc; as well as the bride and groom and their families to make certain that their only obligation is to have the celebration of a life time.

Al – Disc Jockey / Master of Ceremonies / Featured Performer:

Al found his love of music at an early age playing saxophone in his high school’s band during his teen years as well as in a couple of rock bands. He worked as a disc jockey at WCAR, the college radio station during his studies at the University of North Carolina and again at the station on the campus of the University of Memphis where he was known as “The Nite Al.” His public speaking skills get a constant workout as the Director of Customer Service for a local Greensboro company. He also teaches and conducts seminars on customer service, time management, team building and small business management. If pressed, Al will admit that although he stays familiar with many genres of music, his personal favorites are 60’s soul, 70’s funk and smooth jazz and that his favorite artists are The Temptations, Earth, Wind and Fire and Al Jarreau. He came on board with A & A over 7 years ago where his love of music and his outgoing personality have combined in his dream job on weekends as a disc jockey and master of ceremonies. He considers his goal to be making certain that all of the guests at any event have a fun and memorable celebration. Al says that his ultimate reward is starting a song and hearing a cheer from the audience as they recognize it as one of their favorites and then seeing the rush to the dance floor with smiles all around.

Paul – Disc Jockey / Master of Ceremonies:

Paul started with A & A over 26 years ago as a DJ and progressed through time and experience to a highly skilled master of ceremonies and now even assists in training new staff in equipment operation and procedures. His attention to detail is meticulous making him a huge asset to couples whose reception schedules are very complex. He is a master at maintaining communications with other professionals during an event to make certain that the photographer, caterer and other professionals stay well informed before any of the traditional activities take place. His personal music tastes lean toward mainstream popular and dance music, but also includes classical, jazz and contemporary Christian. As a master of ceremonies his microphone skills and audience control allow brides and grooms to relax and know that their entire event is in very good hands.
